[About Us]
How
Jazz on the Green Got Started...
In 1996,
some people who were members of the P.O.L.O. Club of Lee
county brought together an event called, "Jazz at the Harbour",
a jazz concert to benefit the Children's Hospital of
Southwest Florida. In 1997, the event was moved to Gateway
Golf and County Club. Along with the change of venue, the
Committee enthusiastically decided to revive and adopt the
name - "Jazz on the Green™".
Jazz on the Green, now a mainstay in the
Southwest Florida jazz scene, and an event which has
garnered praise from thousands, returns with an even
bigger and better show than ever presented. The large
audiences and phenomenal community, sponsor and media
support over the past years
have established our jazz concert as
Southwest Florida's preeminent jazz/charity fundraising
event. We remain committed to the goal that Jazz on
the Green will be a greatly anticipated annual affair.
The
financial support that we have received from the
community, our corporate sponsors and our in-kind
sponsors has been overwhelming. Because of this
generosity, we look forward to presenting The Children's
Hospital (Lee Memorial Health System), and the small,
fragile and precious children, whom they serve, with a
handsome charitable contribution. Each year we hope
to far exceed all previous monetary goals. To date, Jazz on
the Green has donated approximately $300,000 to this worthy
cause and raised the awareness of The Children's Hospital
cause with event marketing from this single event worth
millions of dollars and billions of consumer impressions
through mass media partnerships.
