Although
the final image may look like a painting, it is
actually a photograph using a Polaroid
SX-70 camera, one of the few that belong to a
permanent exhibition in the Museum of Modern Art in
New York City. Bettie's technique utilizes this unique film
to produce her unusual photographic art form.
With an
eye towards Impressionism, Bettie "shoots" her
compositions with a Polaroid and hand manipulates the
dyes in the film using a "brush-stroke" technique
during the few minutes it takes for the Polaroid to
fully develop.
Bettie's fine art photography, including her emerging
study of contemporary jazz musicians, is highly sought
